I have had an extensive list of jobs, and each one has taught me about myself in enigmatic ways. I have listed them here. My first job came at 15 and I have worked fairly consistently since then. The only times I have stopped working was through a move or to focus on school.
Dublin Jewelers (April 2008)- (July 2008): I performed mostly data entry tasks and support for the store.
Tilly's (Oct 2008-Dec 2008): I was hired as a seasonal employee to work on the floor to welcome and assist customers.
San Ramon Aquatic Center: (April 2009-Oct 2009): Lifeguarding was mainly what I did, but one of my other huge tasks was to teach swim lessons. I taught water safety and followed lesson plans in order to teach kids as young as 9mo and as old as 12 how to swim, dive, blow bubbles, etc. --Acquired certification in CPR/AED, bloodborne pathogens, first aid, and Title 22. (All performed on site through the Red Cross). ((Expired 2012))
Strizzi's (April 2011-Aug 2011): This was my first restaurant job and I worked answering phones and packing to-go orders for customers who called in orders. Worked on their POS to place orders for kitchen staff. Cleaned and assisted with keeping the restaurant's aesthetics.
Sauce (Feb 2012- Aug 2012): I worked in the Phoenix airport location where my job was to work the register, run food, and assist with the day to day runnings of the restaurant. I also was in charge of pouring and serving alcoholic beverages and making pairing suggestions. I came on in the first phase as a member of the launch team.
Gallagher's (Nov 2012-April 2013): Worked as a server in the dining room section of a sports bar. I placed orders, ran food, and generally kept the dining room in order. It was also our job to clean and restock the dining room. This job was really where I honed my multi-tasking abilities and would frequently have 8-10 tables at one time.
Valley Christian School (April 2013-July 2013): I finished out their school year as a substitute teacher and then started working at their Summer Day Camp. I taught an etiquette class and assisted at lunch and on outings. We worked with students entering kindergarten through beginning fifth grade.
Slate Market Grill (Aug 2014-July 2014): I worked for as a server where I really developed my waitressing skills. I had always been good at the customer service aspect of serving but this is where I was really able to be a reliable server and worker.
EBY Brown (July 2014-Oct 2014): I took a semester off of school to re-evaluate what is was I wanted to major in, but in the process needed to work. I started working at EBY Brown as a merchandiser. Our job was to travel all over the southeast as a team. We would travel to our customers (convenience stores), and pull out old product to put in the new. We would re-organize, clean and make sure that they had the newest products and tags to make their reordering go as smoothly as possible. This job taught me that I needed to go back to school.
Mia's Bar (Feb 2015-May 2015): I worked as a server mostly running drinks and food for patrons. I worked with a very small team who all had to learn to work together very well.
Steve and Kate's Camp (March 2015-Aug 2015): My official title was HQ Manager, and my job was to help run the behind the scenes goings on of camp. I answered the phone and email and ran check-out and check-in every morning until I left in the afternoons. I did first aid and assisted with behavioral issues.--Re-acquired certification in first aid, CPR/AED, and bloodborne pathogens. ((Expires March 2017))
My future plans are to move forward into full time work. I am currently interviewing with companies who are interested in making a difference. I am looking for companies who value their employees and strive to foster a culture built on, community, creativity, collaboration, transparency, and passion.
